PRESENT CONTINUOUS

Para que você consiga entender quando usar esse tempo verbal tão importante, basta pensar nas coisas que estão acontecendo no exato momento em que você fala.

Todo nosso “ANDO”, “ENDO” e “INDO” dos verbos em português deve ser trocado em inglês por “ING”.

Para isso, utilizamos o verbo TO BE e acrescentamos o ING nos verbos de ação que queremos empregar. Por exemplo:

do ING (fazeNDO),

eat ING (comeNDO)

read ING (leNDO) 

OBSERVE:

AFFIRMATIVE FORM

I am STUDYING (eu estou ESTUDANDO)

You are DANCING (você está DANÇANDO)

He is WORKING (ele está TRABALHANDO)

She is READING (ela está LENDO)

It is RAINING (está CHOVENDO)

We are WRITING (nós estamos ESCREVENDO)

You are LOVING( vocês estão AMANDO)

They are COOKING (eles estão COZINHANDO)

Observe estes outros exemplos:

®    To drink- beber

I am drinking water.  (Eu estou bebendo água.)

®    To eat- comer

You are eating a hamburger. – Você está comendo um hambúrguer.

®    To talk- conversar

She is talking to her teacher. – Ela está conversando com a sua professora.

Fique atento a algumas exceções para não errar:

®    Em verbos que terminam em E, eliminamos o E e acrescentamos ING.

He is dancing with his girl friend. – Ele está dançando com a sua namorada.

®    Em verbos que terminam em consoante + vogal + consoante, dobramos a última letra e acrescentamos ING.

The dog is run Ning like crazy! – O cachorro está correndo feito doido!

®    Verbos que terminam com IE, troca-se o IE por Y e acrescenta-se ING.

die (morrer) – dYing

lie (mentir) – lYing

NEGATIVE FORM

I am not studying.(Eu não estou estudando.)

You are not dancing. (Você não está dançando.)

He is not working. (Ele não está trabalhando.)

She is not reading.(Ela não está lendo.)

It is not raining.(Não está chovendo.)

We are not writing.(Nós não estamos escrevendo.)

You are not loving. ( Vocês não estão amando.)

They are not cooking.(Eles não estão cozinhando.)

INTERROGATIVE FORM

Am I studying? (Eu estou estudando?)

Are you dancing?(Você está dançando?)

Is he working?(Ele está trabalhando?)

Is she reading? (Ela está lendo?)

Is it raining?( Está chovendo?)

Are we writing?(Nós estamos escrevendo?)

Are you loving? ( Vocês estão amando?)

Are they cooking?(Eles estão cozinhando?)
