THERE TO BE

VERBO TER – HAVER – EXISTIR

Usamos THERE IS para dizer que há alguma coisa ou alguém, sempre no singular.

Ex.: Tem um menino aqui.

There is a boy here.

Usamos THERE ARE para dizer que há alguma coisa ou alguém, sempre no plural.

Ex.: Há meninos aqui.

There are some boys here.

Para ambos (singular e plural), na FORMA NEGATIVA apenas acrescenta-se o “not” após.

Ex.: Não tem um menino aqui.

There isn’t a boy here.

Não há alguns meninos aqui.

There aren’t some boys here.

Para ambos (singular e plural), a forma interrogativa começa com o verbo.

Ex.: Tem um menino aqui?

Is there a boy here?

Há alguns meninos aqui?

Are there any boys here?
