Utilizamos many (muitos, muitas) quando estes acompanharem substantivos contáveis.

Many pode aparecer em frases afirmativas, negativas ou interrogativas.

 

How many days are you going to stay here?

Quantos dias você vai ficar aqui?

 

I will not stay many days, because I have to work.

Eu não ficarei muitos dias, porque eu tenho que trabalhar.

Did you buy many books?

Você comprou muitos livros?

I ate many apples this week.

Eu comi muitas maçãs nesta semana.

 

There are many students in the class today.

Há muitos alunos na aula hoje.

 

Much (muito, muita) é utilizado apenas com substantivos incontáveis. Ainda é pouco comum o uso de much em frases afirmativas. É mais comum o seu uso em frases negativas ou interrogativas.

Como many é usado em frases afirmativas para substantivos contáveis, podemos empregar alotof para substantivos incontáveis em frases afirmativas:

How much milk do you drink per day?

Quanto leite você bebe por dia? 

Not much. Sometimes, I drink a lot of milk.

Não muito. Algumas vezes, eu tomo muito.

Você encontrou muitas informações?

No, I did not  find much information.

Não, eu não encontrei muitas informações.
